Photographic documentation of swastika incidents serves as powerful visual evidence of the way swastikas function in the contemporary United States–both in their everyday banality and their chilling manifestations. Yet photographs of Swastika sightings also run the risk of inducing more harm on impacted communities, especially Jewish people for whom the swastika is an intense trigger of intergenerational trauma. For this reason, we have created a password to access the a Story Map titled “Swastikas on the Rise.”
To access this story Map, please type in the password “Story Map” and proceed with care, as many incidents included in this story map are disturbing, marking how swastikas are, as Carolin Aronis has argued, “technologies of violence.”
